About Us / History
WCCR Purdue Student Radio is one of Purdue’s oldest student organizations and one of the original student-run radio stations in the Big Ten. Established in 1952, WCCR has been providing student-driven programming for over 70 years.
Located in the northwest basement of Cary Quadrangle, WCCR currently hosts many online shows. Our programming spans a wide range of genres and formats, including alternative, hip hop, EDM, talk shows, and more. Each show is created and produced by Purdue students, offering a platform for creativity, discussion, and music discovery.
For more than half a century, WCCR broadcast locally at 90.1 FM. Operating on a low-power signal from a tower atop Cary Quad, the station was part of the former Purdue Radio Network, which at its height included broadcasts from nearly every residence hall on campus.
In 2005, WCCR made the transition to an internet radio format. This shift expanded the station’s reach beyond campus, allowing listeners from anywhere to stream a higher-quality feed of our programming. Today, WCCR streams live 24/7. You can listen directly from the ‘Home’ page of our website to tune in.
